Well i am 13 years old right now.. I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia in Late September 2008.. the lowest ive been recorded on my glucose meter is 24 and the highest recorded is 148.. I want to know more info about Hypoglycemia.. Also can it kill me if i don’t do any thing about it?? And will anyone please help me or give me tips that will help me?!

Answer
A blood glucose of 24 is very scary. Below 40 mg/dl I can’t even see my meter. With lows like that, I would not focus on the highs.

Low blood sugar can cause serious nerve and brain damage or death. High blood sugar takes decades to cause serious complications.

Always carry hard candy with you. Life savers are good, and so are glucose tablets.

Learn to recognize low blood sugar symptoms, sweating, confusion, lights in vision, feeling hot.

When your sugar is low, below 70 mg/dl, take 15 grams of sugar every 15 mintues until it is back to normal. More details at this link.

Get a blood glucose meter if you don’t have one already. If you are not feeling well check your blood. Check your blood before exercise. Eat some carbohydrates before exercise.

Some one may comment to ask your doctor, I assume you have a doctor and you still dont know what you are supposed to be doing. You need to learn to take care of yourself, your doctor is not always available when you have problems.

The proper way to treat hypoglycemia is to eat high protein, low sugar snacks every 2-3 hours. Things containing, meat, dairy, or nuts and seeds usually. I’m a peanut butter sandwich kind of a person, when I can’t find anything else
If your sugar goes too low you can lose consciousness, have seizures, or, yes, die. I assume you have experienced one of the others cause that’s really low to not black out. This will only happen if you ignore it for to long (probably a couple days of not eating enough)
It can go away, depending on what it’s caused by, but it is also very likely it will last forever. (I know, ugh). It’s not so bad once you’ve been on the diet for awhile. It’s pretty flexible considering. Symptoms should go away when you eat properly.
    Hope I helped<3
    Trust me, I’ve been there
Kinda scary especially when no one tells you anything. But It gets better =)
