Any sustained glucose level over 126 is doing damage to your systems. It depends on the individual person as to how this shows up later in life. http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/http://www.labtestsonline.org/understand…

  • Tin S says:

Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR): Your GFR tells how much kidney function you have. It may be estimated from your blood level of creatinine. If your GFR falls below 30 you will need to see a kidney disease specialist (called a nephrologist), Your kidney doctor will speak to you about treatments for kidney failure like dialysis or kidney transplant. A GFR below 15 indicates that you need to start one of these treatments.
    So kidneys are OK.
Are you exercising ? Are you on a low glycemic diet.
You didn’t give much to go on. I would say you liver is fine.
Neuropathy is one one of the things to look for. If you keep glucose levels normal , you will avoid this terrible malady.

It would take prolonged high glucose readings for any real kidney or liver damage. The only way to find out how your body is doing is through a work up/blood work done by your new Dr which it looks like she did. If there is any real risk or damage, she would let you know. Your original Dr should loose his license! But now that you are with a new Dr and under treatment, your levels should eventually even out and if you manage your diet well you won’t have any problems. A diabetic can live a totally normal and healthy life if taken care of properly.
Most diabetics go untreated for quite a while due to no insurance or simply not realizing they are diabetic. I was diagnosed after feeling ill for an entire summer and my sugars were in the 800′s. That was 13 years ago and I have perfectly healthy kidneys and liver regardless of my lousy management the first several years after I was diagnosed in my teens.
