Since sleep apnea causes high blood pressure, it is another risk factor for heart disease.
So, yes.
Having trouble getting proper sleep can add to your stress levels, making it harder to regulate your blood sugar levels.
Diabetes can worsen if you don’t have a good sleep or your sleep quality and duration is affected.
A sleep study has shown that adults with five hours of sleep or less were 2 times more likely to have diabetes, compared with those who slept seven or eight hours per night.
Sleep apnea not only add problems to diabetes, but it may cause diabetes. Here is what I found :”Apnea events from a patient with sleep apnea stimulate the sympathetic nervous system. This leads to release of cortisol and other vasoactive intermediates, which may mediate the development of glucose intolerance, insulin resistance, and, ultimately, type II diabetes.”
I hope it helps.
