Answer
I am a type 1 diabetic you have to check your levels about 5times a day and if you are feeling the symtoms of a hypo look at http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/ you will find the symtoms you must check your levels and then if it is below 4 take action by having sugary drinks like lucozade or a packet of skitless

hope this helped!

I’m diabetic, and have been experiencing “hypo” a lot lately. (Sports with school starting again), but anyway…
For your first question, depending on what your doctor recommends, yes, i would think you would have to check with a glucose meter. Although sometimes when you are hypo, you just feel very not right, and pretty soon, you’ll me able to recognize the signs without testing, but for now, if your doctor says to check.
Like I said, check whenever you feel hypo or “lolow”, and as for ‘does it hurt’? If you think about it too much, it does because you freak yourself out. It does once in a while. I check on my arm though. Your doctor may have you testing on your fingers, which, in my opinion, hurts a lot more just because you have a lot of nerve endings in your fingers, and have to watch were you test on your fingers. If you hit a nerve ending, it get extremely uncomfortable for a couple minutes, but on the plus side, I’ve heard this before, but IDK if it’s true, but when you test for ”hypo” they say you should test on your fingers to get a more acurate reading, I think because when you wash your hands, you wash your fingers.
Hope I Helped, And Good Luck!

well for regular diabetics its 4 times a day. hypo. i’m not sure. you should be able to tell after a while when your low. and the first few times you test yeah its gonna hurt. your not supposed to use the same finger. your supposed to rotate but i got aggravated with the poking so i’ve used just one thumb for about a year and a half. and built up a hard callus so it doesn’t hurt. =]

eat meals at regular times. avoid high sugar foods. granola bars are good for lows.

    Hi,
    Hurt is a opinion.
If you feel like throwing up, that is a certain amount of hurt in your stomach.
If you faint, then your head will hurt when you wake up, because you fell to the ground.
If you prick your arm for a blood test three times a day, it might hurt a little bit, but you will get used to it.
It is a matter of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it will not matter. But you could worry yourself about it, not take the required number of blood tests, and then faint, bump your head, crash your car, or something, and then really be in a lot of pain.
You will learn what is required to control your hypoglycemia. Then you can probably control it with just diet alone. Monitoring will just be there to make sure that your diet plan is actually working well.
Remember if you are having a nightmare that you should wake up right away, and check your blood sugar level. If it is low, then do what the doctors recommend. Eat some cereal, or apple or cinnamon gram cracker, or what is recommended for you.
By the way, try adding cinnamon to your diet. It causes the foods to change over to blood sugars at a slower rate, thus is very healthy for you whatever you are eating.
    Good Luck!
