That’s not an odd insulin to carb ratio at all. Some people even need more than one unit per one gram! Bodies are different. If you’re a type 1, talk to your doctor about what you could be doing in terms of preventing and treating insulin resistance. If you’re a type 2, ask if your other medications could be changed to hopefully lessen your IC ratio and overall insulin needs.
I don’t think there is a “normal” carb to insulin ratio. Being on more insulin per carb than another diabetic doesn’t mean that you’re a “bad” diabetic, or that you’re doing something wrong that causes you to be on more insulin, or that you have bad control of your blood sugars. Its just that your body happens to need more insulin…everyone is different.
