Food Diet For Prone Diabetes ?????

i am prone to diabetes, my mom has it and her mom has it, is there certain foods i should eat to help prevent it ??? if so, what foods ?

    Reduce the amount of dietary fat. The current American Diabetes association guidelines advise that less than 7-10% of calories should come from saturated fat. These are the fats that raise LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol should be less than 200-300 mg per day. Additionally, intake of trans-unsaturated fats should be minimized. These are better known as partially hydrogenated oils. Reducing fat intake may help contribute to modest weight loss.
    Keep protein intake in the range of 15-20% of total calories. Choices low in fat are recommended such as nonfat dairy products, legumes, skinless poultry, fish and lean meats. To keep the cholesterol content in range, approximately 6 ounces of protein per day is recommended. This is about the size of 2 decks of cards.
    Carbohydrate choices should come from whole grains breads, cereals, pasta, brown rice, beans, fruits and vegetables. Increasing dietary fiber is a general guideline for the entire population rather than specifically for people with diabetes. Portions and type of carbohydrate affect calories and is reflected by weight and blood glucose control. Learning to read labels for total carbohydrate rather than sugar provides the best information for blood sugar control.
    Limit sources of high calorie and low nutritional value foods, including those with a high content of sugars. Sugar-containing foods should be substituted for other carbohydrate sources (such as potatoes) instead of just adding them on to the meal.
    A registered dietitian can help you best decide how to balance your diet with carbohydrates, protein and fat.

    Yes low carb is the way to go. Do you know that your insulin resistance starts to raise even when you are in the womb? Some even believe that your resistance increases when your Moms Mom eats carbohydrates. This is not hereditary, it is environmental. Eating low carb will reset your resistance once your pancreas has had a chance to rest. Eating low carb (high fat) is also good for your cholesterol and heart. Insulin causes more heart disease than cholesterol. I only mention this as someone is trying to tell you it is the other way around. Low fat does not work. What is your fasting INSULIN level?

    Low sugar, low carbs. Usually South Beach Diet or Atkins will help. My grandparents both had it and my mom is starting to show symptoms.
    Lean proteins, desserts that are sweetened with Splenda and low sugar (Sugar free popsicles, jello, and puddings). Fresh or grilled vegetables, salads, peanuts/almonds. Lean hamburger (no bun), reduced fat cheeses. Eggs (for breakfast). Diet sodas/water.

    1. Severely limit your carb level, taking only from the low glycemic range.
    2. Don’t load your metabolism to the eye balls first thing in the morning, stick to protein and veg and nuts of the low carb kind.
    3. Do not eat any carbs once you finnish work, since your body will be much less efficient once it becomes less active.

    There are foods you should limit which are carbohydrates and exercise can also help. Sometimes diabetes run in families and you won’t be able to prevent it. But a healthy diet and weight are your best defense.

    There is nothing you can or cannot eat to prevent diabetes.

    Atkins has been shown to reverse the effects.
    An easier alternative is to be sure to eat protein and lots of veggies with each meal and good carbs.
