Yes,I’d think so. Any “complex” carb. burns slow, unlike “simple” carbs-aka Sugar.

Eat more vegetables. Please avoid meat. Chicken & fish ok. Please also avoid fat & oil rich food (Fried foods). Do daily exercise & consult the doctor regularly.

You should check out the American Diabetes Association website at http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp, it has a lot of information that will need. Also, your Doctor should send you to a nutritionist or a diabetes training nurse that specializes in working with diabetes patients. If he/she hasn’t mentioned it, you should ask. This type of nutritionist/diabetes nurse will go over what types of food you need to eat, how to take and record you blood sugar levels, and how to read food labels to name a few of the things they do. I have several diabetics in my family and all of their Doctors did this, I believe it is standard practice. Good Luck

You really need to ask advise from your doctor as this depends on the type of diabetes you have. For type one diabetes (most people who develop this are under 40, but check with your doctor as you can get it at any age) most foods are ok, depending on your insulin, but as for everyone a healthy diet is best. Meat is fine as it contains very little carbs. If you have type 2 diabetes your doctor may have advised you to try to loose weight – check with your doctor but I would imagine meat would be ok if prepaired in a low fat way, eg. grilled instead of fried and no batter or bread crumbs. Hope that helps! I know it sucs getting diagnosed with diabetes at first, but you honestly get used to it. Good luck :)

lots of protein, veggies, go slow on carbs, fruit or anything sugary or high in fat. Try the sugar free lollies and chocolate- it’s not to bad tasting!!

Eat a good diet that is low in carbs and very low in sugars. Start reading the labels on foods you buy and researching nutrition information from restaurants.
Be more active and try to lose some weight. That will make you healthier and take some of the strain off your system.
Take the meds your doctor gave you and be consistent about. This should be a no-brainer, but lots of bad/unhealthy diabetics aren’t good about following doctor’s instructions.
Whole wheat bread is better, but if you can give up bread or only eat it occasionally, you’ll be better off. Protein is good for you, but nothing fried and try to pick lean meats. Eggs are pretty okay. Most veggies. Try and be creative.

Go very lightly on the carbs. That includes bread. Salads are good some vegetables are good, but corn and peas are not. Bake or broil foods, don’t fry. Carbs also include rice, pasta, potatoes. It’s hard to get started but when you get used to the diet, it will seem very normal. Good luck.
