Is there a way to get diabetic testing supplies at low cost or no cost? I have type 1 diabetes and have not had insurance in several years. I am only able to work part time and cannot afford to buy testing supplies out of pocket.
Answer
Wal-Mart carries a brand of supplies called Relion Ultima. The machine costs 8 bucks and you could get 100 strips for 43 bucks. It’s a reliable machine and very inexpensive compared to most others.

Check with the American Diabetic Association sometimes they’ll help out. Also check with your local department of family services to see if you qualify for medicaide.
Have you tried your General Hospital or County Hospital? I don’t know where you live, but in California the General Hospital base your financial status on your expenses on what you can and can not afford. Free for those who can’t afford. They can also help you find a program for it. If you’re not in California, maybe they can help you there. Peace!!!
Look in your Area for Welfare and Medicaid programs. If that is not the answer Look to your church and Hospital for programs to get your supplies. Ask your Employer for help as the Insurace plan he or she has set up for Employees may be the answer. Look hard and you will find help. Don’t beafraid to ask.
Ask your doctor, too. He can tell you where you can get help. The Walmart Relion mentioned above is a very good unit. I keep one at work.
