The only programs I can find here in in Illinois are for parents or children. He is not a parent, and he is 34. Just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, no insurance, no income, doctor’s office is rural and not much help. We live in Peoria. Thank you.

You can try visiting the websites for the blood glucose meter companies like Lifescan One Touch to see if they have assistance programs, but the way things are today they are overloaded with hardship requests. You can always buy the store-brand meter at Walgreens or Wal-Mart. The meters don’t cost much and the test strips are about 30-40% cheaper.
ebay usually has some low cost ones and just make sure they are not due for expirationany time soon good luck dear .
