Answer
Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Recent studies indicate that the early detection of diabetes symptoms and treatment can decrease the chance of developing the complications of diabetes.
Some diabetes symptoms include:
* Frequent urination
* Excessive thirst
* Extreme hunger
* Unusual weight loss
* Increased fatigue
* Irritability
* Blurry vision

You know you have diabetes when your fasting glucose is above 126-ish. Type 2 diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is known as the “silent killer” because it often causes no noticable symptoms at all. The symptoms that people do notice tend to be frequent urination (especially at night), unexplainable tiredness, and getting sick more often. Women with uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes may get frequent vaginal yeast infections (extra glucose in the urine give bacteria lots of fuel).
Just because you think you “feel fine” doesn’t mean you don’t have it. People who are obese have a high rate of having Type 2 Diabetes, but a lot of non-obese people get it, too. It’s generally tied to lifestyle, epecially diet and activity level, but some people who do everything right get it anyway.

Thirst and urinating a lot. Wounds that take a long time to heal. Dizziness, tired all the time. If you have any of these symptoms please see your doctor.
Im thirteen and i have it! i found out i had diabetes in the hospital after i passed out in the mall(WHILE I WAS TALKING TO A CUTE GUY I MIGHT ADD!) from VERY low blood sugar. i don’t have it because im fat(im not) or anything. a lot of fat people have diabetes. you may have no symtoms or you may feel tired or thirsty all of the time. if you think you may have diabetes then see a doctor and have a blood test. good luck!
This is a long explaination, but I want to share it with everyone so it can’t happen so often. I was miss diagnosed until I finally ended up with many complications that may have been prolonged and possibly avoided.
I’m 71. When I was your age I began to have a fit for hunger. It would suddenly come upon me. I would need food immediately. I would begin to sweat and become disoriented. Buy the time I started eating I felt more like sleeping – going to bed and die, but I knew I just had to have food.
I felt like devouring the food. I ate more than anyone could ever need. It took time to get into my system and then I was okay. This went on for years.
Next I got infection in my big toe where a callous had cracked. I developed blood poisoning. For the next 12 years I had an ulcer on that toe and went to emergency at least 3 times a year. I would take antibiotics, the infection cleared but the sore wouldn’t heal.
Each time I went to emergency, they tested me for diabetes and the test came back negative.
I was in the hospital twice for blood poisoning. The last time in they tested and it came back positive.
I live on antibiotics. When I get infection they give me three antibiotic though the IV and one by mouth. At home I take thee different antibiotics each day.
Once I was finely diagnosed as diabetic and went on a diabetic diet, my toe healed.
At one time they were ready to amputate my toe. Thank goodness it healed.
My feet and legs to my knees are numb and my hands and arms are also numb. It is called peripheral neuropathy. A complication of diabetes.
I have a feeling that when I had infection the test wasn’t reading right and came back negative. They tested me the day when the infection was gone and I was well enough to go home. That the day they got a positive test back.
I’m now home bound and they say I may some day lose my legs.
I don’t talk about my health unless I think I can help someone.
Be sure they get Your test right the first time.
Through all this I still have my mind in tack and I keep busy writing famiy history and working on family photos for albums, and making slide shows for my family and for their weddings. I read a couple books each week and watch NBA basket ball and each day I can wake up and say I love life and my dear husband/care giver.
Thirsty all the time, weight lose, frequent urination.
I am a 31 year old woman with type 1 diabetes. When I was 29 I started to loose weight w/out trying I thought great. But I was always hungry and ate everthing. I wasn’t overweight to begin with but I got down to a size 2. Then I started drinking diet Pepsi all the time I thought I was addicted to the aspartame. Then I had to go to the bathroom every hour. I started counting I would wake up 5 or more times during the night. I had yeast infections that would not go away. One day I was doing dishes and had to use the bathroom so bad I started running and fell into the china cabinet, severed the nerve and artery in my ring finger. A few weeks later I was watching ER on TV. There was a woman with all my symptoms so I checked out a few web sites and called my doctor. They thought I was crazy till I started talking. My fasting sugar was 650. Way Way too high. That’s my story so if any sounds familiar please see a doctor. I was just lucky to catch it on my own and not in an emergency situation.
There are several symptoms ranging from excessive thirst, unexplained weight loss, frequent urination, etc.. The best way to find out, is to go to your doctor and ask for a simple blood test. They will stick your finger. If you think that you may have it, go to the doctor soon. Good Luck!!!
