Usually type 1 presents itself with extreme thirst and weightloss. The hunger and fatigue (and the other symptoms) can be related to other less serious things. Fatigue is a common symptom, as are extreme thirst and frequent urination. Hunger is an uncommon symptom. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to prevent the onset of Type 1...we don't even know...
